Inspired by the rampaging energy of classic muscular sword-and-sandal adventures, along with an airbrushed visual sensibility and boundary-pushing elements aimed at younger audiences, Kylgor in the Grisly Abyss unfolds in a realm that sustains itself by oppressing its neighbors. A kingdom selects three champions and assigns them a simple objective: end the king. Kylgor and his comrades breach the fortress, sever the ruler’s head, and slip past the guards. In their flight, the ex-allies plunge into a deep, mystical cave and become trapped amid ravenous beasts, deceptive visions, and corrupting magicks—spectacles built from foam rubber and bravado testing body and mind in the labyrinth.

Joining Kylgor on the program is Goodbye, Monster, a short film written and directed by Luke Barnett. The piece features Patton Oswalt and Tina Majorino, with practical creature effects by Dan Crawley and a Bear McCreary score. A Draw Your Own Monster activity will be part of the event, inviting attendees to contribute to the night’s splatter-friendly mood.
